I did something!
Aug. 9th, 2017 11:25 pmOk, it wasn't much, but I have actually done a craft for the last few nights, about 10 - 20 minutes a night. Amazing. Had to take my eyes of the computer hypnotic thingie dingie, get out of this horrid depressive cycle, put on close-up glasses (dammit, I hate getting old), and do something.
And, maybe there's an inkling of a rebirth of the Embellishers' Guild. Still haven't been able to find a new minister, I've kinda given up on that for a bit. But, I have encouraged others to do guild things in their geographical areas. If I can't make it there to run it for them, and I can't, then they have to do it themselves. So there's been a lot of interest in the Summits and I encouraged it and then taught a class about running challenges even if you aren't officially a challenge deputy for the guild. You can be one for that event! Just have to get approval beforehand. And a few weekends ago, some eager people in Summits did just that. Ran a challenge at a local event, had two laurels evaluating, got 4 people to at least junior student (and one almost to journeyman). Got them all excited and other areas are thinking of doing the same. YES!!!
About the class. It was about running challenges. I, yes, *ME*, held it on FB. I guess that's one positive thing I learned from last year's election crapola-fest, how to do stuff on FB. I'm not entirely happy with it, but it worked. So much so that I'm holding another class, about documentation for challenges, in a couple weeks... on FB! And there are plans for even more classes and... I'm looking into teaching/class software so I could expand this to classes about other things, like, heh, Romans, or embroidery, or cheese, or...
