I'm a bit late with this, but it's been a hard week. I'll explain the week in another post, after I do the words!

England – I wrote a tome about this. Honestly. A tome - pages. And then I thought, I dunno, maybe a list of words is better. England – home, dream, learning, mother, green, moors, forests, stone, Romans, history, museums, people, pubs, sunday dinner, snaggie, little roads, good trains, good buses, miners, ship builders, bakeries, shops, history (I said that already right?), medieval, scotland, tudor, elizabethan, strikes, labor, irish, national health, welsh, the dole, oceans, bbc, rivers, uplands, sheep, wild goats, birds, lakes, short mountains (hey, I live in WA state!), York, Newcastle, Carlisle, Edinburgh, Chollerford, walking, oceans, roman walls, archaeology, independence, freedom, love, miss, feels right, dream again.

Flowers – love, bees, beauty, honey, scent, pride. I love growing flowers, I feel such pride when the plants I raise from seed bring out their blooms, when the roses I've grown for 25 years bring forth their copious flowers, when the bushes and trees I've welcomed and curated droop with long racemes of white, grape scented drops of joy. And, I adore getting bouquets of flowers from Randy. I love them!

Parents – I'm not one, well, not a parent of a human animal. But I have two of them, and I am lucky because of the wonderful people they are, and I love them fiercely. My mother is one of my best friends. I will support her, help her, love her, to the finish. My father is also one of my best friends. I will support him, help him, love him, to the finish. Both of them inspire me in different ways. Both of them raised me, helped me, and enabled me to become who I am today. My Mom allowed me and encouraged me to learn about England and Europe. She sent me there the first time when I was 13! I was in a group of high school seniors and college freshmen, led by teachers. We spent 6 or 7 weeks there, learning about archaeology in Greece and Rome, from Greek and Roman archaeologists! And then, she and my dad repeatedly helped me achieve my dreams, as parents do. Now, it has switched a lot, and I am the one who helps and enables them. It's a strange transition, but I am doing it, because I love them, and honor them.

Research – It's basically my life. It's one of the things that gives me meaning and purpose. Allowing my mind to wander, to explore whatever dank rabbit hole it wishes, is a blessing. Being trained in 'official' research is also a blessing, because I can do it fairly easily. Research backs the gardening and farming I do (bet you didn't know that, but check out my library of books on those subjects some time). Research backs my raising of goats. Research is why I know that tablero is not a medieval game. Research is how I can make webpages and databases. Research is why I spend hours reading at night, learning, learning, learning.

Cucumber – They are wonderful to each fresh. And they turn into pickles and pickle relish, of which I just made and canned tons for the coming year or two. I really like growing them, specially the warty, spiny pickling cucumbers. And… well, I'm not going down that dark avenue, keep your dirty minds to yerselves!
