Gonna follow in Randy's footsteps with this, because he is good at connecting with people, and I suck at it, so here I go!

Me: Still hanging in there. Finally have got myself going on the gardening and mowing and goat caring and all of that. Have to add in house cleaning (ohh boy!). I've managed to protect myself from the depression of watching my parents decline to a certain extent. Work, being outside even if it's just sitting under the trees, Randy, goats/cats/dog/chickens/friends, reading and learning, all matter greatly.

Randy (the mr.): Randy is wonderful. He gets me flowers every few weeks. I am very happy and proud to be married to him! He is supportive of me and my family, and does things he really doesn't want to do on the farm at times (wethering boy goats, for example). He's, as usual, deeply involved in SCA stuff and happy with it.

Parents and Sister: Circumstances with the parents and the sister vary, they are overall slowly declining; sometimes they decline faster. Last weekend they went to the emergency room with my sister because she's got a bad infection in her gum which was making her face swell and obviously hurts like hell. She had this happen a few months ago, dentist said he could see nothing much at the time, prescribed antibiotics, and so on. Well, this time they got antibiotics from the emergency doc and then went to the dentist two days later (today/yesterday). He checked again and found a molar cracking. So, we are going to have to go back to the dental surgeon, like last fall when the molar on the other side of her mouth cracked. All hands on deck for end July early August!!!!! I have to say, Malena, my sister, will be happy. She loves going to the 'DENNNNtissst' (as she tries to say it).

Career: On hold, and I shouldn't let it be like this. So I'm working on getting it revved up again. Maybe my tentative, very tentative, plans of going to give a paper or two in England/Europe will materialize in the next couple years. Until then, keep an eye out on the www.romanforts.org website. I am working on it again, slowly. It's going to be moving into grid and become fully 'responsive', but first I need to finish the database/php backend and queries.

Current reading: I read a lot now, as in, sit or lie in bed and read a book. Probably read a book or two every week. They are all non-fiction, for now. This is good for me, it means I sleep much better than before, relax after working on the computer all night, and learn new things! Currently I am reading two books (yes, at the same time almost). Radley Balko – The Rise of the Warrior Cop. And, Fiona Haarer, et al (eds) – AD 410: the history and archaeology of late and post-Roman Britain. Fun!

SCA: I'm trying to get back into things and get involved. It is hard at times, but it's happening. I'm going to classes that my lovely apprentice, HL Skalla, is teaching on block printing. They are fun! It's cool to design something new. I am also working on getting back into creating garb, and doing embroidery and so on. This is all very slow, but it's happening at least!

I'm working on the database for the Kingdom Archivist (Randy's position). It's actually moving along fairly quickly, as I get to work on it.

I've created two new FB groups for Ithra. We'll see how they do. I haven't a clue what to say in them, as I am not the manager or whatever of Ithra. I'm just the media person! Tehe. I also redid the Ithra webpage. It's now fully 'responsive' and in grid. Woot.

The Research Corpus is still moving along. We will have our first presentation gathering in early September. Maybe people will volunteer to present their work! Maybe not. We'll see. I have trouble getting people excited about things, I think I am too low key or something?

The Embellishers' Guild: It's in abeyance, more or less. I need to post my resignation letter soon. I simply cannot make all the events and do all the work; I haven't time or money. I am thinking about concentrating on a baronial or regional iteration of the Guild. I will continue the guild website, as I can do that work without spending time and money traveling and so on.

Farm Things: Well, we've got 9 baby goats. And 8 of them are boys! GAHHH! Lots of wethering to do. Other than that, all is well. I will be selling the goat kids, and hopefully some adult goats, in the next few months. No, Lily and Poppy are not for sale! (Neither is Harold… ssshhhhh, don't tell Randy). To facilitate the sales I am redoing the farm website. Completely. From byte on up. It's going into grid format and will be fully 'responsive'. Had the USDA come out yesterday and go over a census with me about goat keeping. I guess I'm one of the long term goat keepers in the area now. Funny. I hope the answers help other people. I thought I was pretty weird because of the way I keep goats (little to no vet exposure, closed herd, etc, etc) but the census taker assured me that is not so. Cool!!
